All his works
and projects are based on the principle of uniqueness. They are
the essence and expression of his life.
His art remains
uninfluenced by superficial trends, indeed a special "something"
evolves from his knowledge, ability and inner strength.
With his
work, he creats a feeling for life dipped in colour, which as
colours and enriches other people`s lives, providing of course
they acknowledge colour.
During his
travels and study of old cultures, especially in India, he came
in touch with long forgotten methods of artistic work, for example,
old techniques of producing colour ..or of dancing. In conjunction
with the knowledge he acquired in churches in Southern Germany,
he arrived at a synthesis of the old and the modern. Colour and
movement represent the artistic diversity, also the art of living,
in his work.
In Manfred
Scharpf`s creativity, two means of presenting art prevail; pictures
painted in priceless old techniques and nonethless modern themes,
which originate in the studio and are expressions of the happening,
the performance and the dance. The one forms the inspiration for
the other. Scenes from his performances, which also take place
at special locations, subsequently appear in the motifs of his
works.

In 1990 Manfred Scharpf presented his paintings as a highlight
on Brockhaus anniversary event.

Venus Banquet 1995
In his need
to touch on all man`s sphere`s of life within his art, the creative
force of eroticism plays a special role.
He is not
concerned with superficial sexual content. Instead he presents
the relationship between erotic forms and their essential principles.
To him, his
female models are symbols of fertilitiy and creative strength
formed in flesh. His work in the erotic sector is relative to
today`s ideal of fashionable beauty.
He produced
the "Venus Banquet" in Uherchitse, in the Czech Republic, in which
six as-large-as-life women from the region brought life to the
painted picture of Venus.

The danced,
miracle-play "Passion of Desire", staged in the famous tomb-church
in Sedlec, Czech Republic supplies ideas for a number of paintings
featuring angles.
The play
deals with the struggles of forces, light and dark, good and evil,
as permanent driving forces for mankind.

He chose
New York for "Heroes and Champions". The aircraft carrier "Intrepid"
in New York Harbour presented a sensational, authentic backdrop
for his modern heroes theme.
